Preserving a Historical Building in Oxford, New Jersey
Project Details
EDCO played a pivotal role in preserving a piece of America’s cultural heritage by teaming up with Global Home Improvement to replace a 175-year-old slate roof on a historic building in Oxford, New Jersey. This building, originally a foundry for the Oxford Blast Furnace which played a crucial role in iron smelting during the Revolutionary War, needed a roofing solution that combined historical authenticity with modern durability.
Inspired by EDCO’s feature on the Build Show with Matt Risinger, the owner of this historic building, Brian Brands, discovered that EDCO’s Enhanced Slate Steel Stone Blend was the ideal product to maintain the authenticity and longevity of his building. “EDCO’s slate roof has replicated the original slate so well that I have received numerous compliments,” states Brands.
EDCO’s goal is to provide products that extend the life of homes and buildings – and we accomplished just that in this project. “Since my building is integral to the Oxford Historic District, I needed a product that had the authentic appearance of real slate with the durability of metal,” Brands explains. “EDCO’s product met all my criteria, and I couldn’t be happier! It will be observed by many visitors touring the Oxford, NJ historical industrial complex for years to come.”
